WiFi Progress
Mike Battin reports that two milestone events in the St. Mike's WiFi master plan were completed this week.
Two (moonlighting) network engineers from Hoag Hospital completed a site survey and cabling walkthrough of the entire campus. (Yes, even the attic.) They confirmed potential existing pathways between the parish center and the sanctuary that can be reutilized. This is happy news indeed! Although we should still be mentally prepared for a five-figure cost, this is good news that will help significantly.
A temporary WiFi fix was implemented on Thursday, 03/25/2021, to improve speed and connectivity in the parish office. This involved adding a second parallel WiFi network and upgrading the existing system. A test mesh network is currently running in parallel and will stabilize over the next 2-3 weeks.
The next step is to connect with Cox to increase the speed to more than the 10MBPS Cox provides today.
