Suspension of Public Worship
Dear Friends in Christ,
As all of us are aware, the coronavirus pandemic is bringing unprecedented challenges to our society. It has become increasingly clear over the past few days that one of the best things we can do to help slow the potential spread of the virus is to minimize social gatherings that could increase the risk of exposure.
After careful consultation with our Vestry, I have made the difficult decision to suspend our services of public worship at St. Michael’s, until further notice, effective immediately.
I know all of us will feel keenly this temporary loss of our common life of prayer and worship. But given the serious nature of the situation, and the fact that the vast majority of our parishioners fall into the “high risk” category, we must make the health and well-being of our sisters and brothers our highest priority.
We also want to postpone in-person and in-office meetings, except when vitally necessary. To that end, the parish office will be closed to the public until we resume our normal schedule. However, Maile Jansen and I will ensure that our church’s basic business operations continue without interruption.
Please know that I and the rest of the parish staff are available to you via telephone or email, just as we would be during “normal” times. I welcome and encourage you to be in contact with us, and with one another, as this situation unfolds. We will be in regular communication with you via email, to offer updates, resources for prayer and worship, and mutual support in Christ, until we can (hopefully soon) gather together again.
And most important - let’s remember and remind one another that whether we are physically together for worship or not, the bonds that form our Christian community are God-given and will endure!
Love and blessings,
The Rev. Michael Seiler
Rector
