Sundays at Nine | Pineland Preservation Alliance
Son to Peggy and brother to Kim, Sunday at 9 on 12/13/2020, Carleton Montgomery will teach us about the Pinelands National Reserve in southern New Jersey. Carleton has been executive director of the Pineland Preservation Alliance (PPA) since 1998.
The Pinelands National Reserve is the largest forested area on the Eastern Seaboard between Maine and the Florida Everglades. From pine plains to cedar swamps and tea-colored rivers flowing to the coastal estuaries, the Pine Barrens offers a mosaic of habitats, which are home to rare plants and unique animals. Within the Pinelands are 800,000 acres of forest in one of the world’s most densely developed regions, an aquifer that remains one of North America’s largest and healthiest surviving aquifers, a community of often rare wildlife and flora under siege in other parts of their natural habitat, and a fascinating history embodied in the Pinelands’ ghost towns, historic villages, farms and people.
See you Sunday at Nine!
