Sundays at Nine | Abraham, Isaac, & Kierkegaard
"Sundays at Nine” is our regular series of conversations for adults on topics related to Christian spirituality. Everyone is welcome at these informal online discussions which meet online at 9 am on Sunday mornings.
For the next two weeks, Sara Rosenson will lead a discussion of Genesis 22, the story of Abraham and his son Isaac, from two different perspectives: first, from the point of view of Sarah, Abrahams wife, and second from the point of view of philosopher Soren Kirkegaard (some Kirkegaard background on this is here.)
The meetings are titled: “Sarah and the Binding of Her Son Isaac” and “Kierkegaard’s Perspective on the Binding of Isaac in His Book Fear and Trembling." Here's a handout that accompanies the first discussion.
Sarah Rosenson has a law degree from the University of Pennsylvania and a Masters Degree in Jewish Studies from the Spertus Institute of Jewish Studies in Chicago. Over the course of her adult life she has practiced law, been a stay-at-home mom, taught high school and middle school students in the Religion department of a Quaker school, and taught adults in various contexts. Most importantly in terms of her relationship to Saint Michael’s, she is Peggy Montgomery’s daughter-in-law and Kim Montgomery’s sister-in-law.
